I decided that this would be my last season as U175 captain as 12 years was long enough in any chess post: I was also influenced by the fact that it had become increasingly difficult for my mother to continue providing the refreshments for home matches. An 11th SCCU title was duly achieved, but a big disappointment was waiting in the National semi-final when an enhanced Middlesex line up proved too strong for us on the day.
